PSO Leads Nationwide Effort to Teach Road Safety to the Next Generation

Karachi: Pakistan State Oil (PSO), the nation’s leading energy company, is successfully implementing Safety Starts Young, a nationwide road-safety education program designed to empower school-going children with essential knowledge for staying safe on the roads. The initiative has been widely appreciated by teachers, parents, and school administrations for its engaging, interactive approach.

The company launched this program with the belief that road safety habits formed early in life can create long-term behavioral change. Children are at an age where they absorb and internalize lessons quickly, making them the ideal audience for building responsible road behavior. By teaching safety principles before they begin using roads independently, as pedestrians, cyclists, and eventually drivers, PSO aims to create a generation for whom road safety becomes second nature. This forward-thinking approach reflects the company’s commitment to shaping mindful, responsible citizens who contribute to safer roads across Pakistan.

Launched recently, the program is reaching children aged 5 to 12 through creative learning experiences. So far, it has covered more than 30 schools and is set to expand to 42 schools across 14 cities, including Karachi, Quetta, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, and Attock. Hyderabad and Sukkur are scheduled next.
Safety Starts Young uses theatre performances, a specially designed mini-city setup, and activity-based modules to teach students the fundamentals of road safety. Children learn to recognize traffic signals, understand road signs, use zebra crossings correctly, and practice safe pedestrian behavior.

Each participant is honored as a PSO Safety Hero, symbolizing their accomplishment in adopting responsible road conduct. These memorable experiences are intended to make road safety second nature, helping children grow into responsible pedestrians and future drivers who value and follow road rules.

The program’s strong reception among schools reinforces PSO’s commitment to community well-being and highlights its leadership role in promoting safer road behavior nationwide.
