SHINE Humanity Expands Family Planning Services Through Strategic Partnerships in Rural Sindh

SHINE Humanity is proud to announce the expansion and strengthening of its Family Planning Program through strategic collaborations aimed at improving access to reproductive health services in underserved communities across rural Sindh.
The Family Planning Program is currently being implemented across seven clinics in Gharo, Koohi Goth, Sujawal, Chilya, New Jatoi, Diplo, and Nagarparkar, alongside extensive community-based outreach led by trained Community Health Workers (CHWs). Through door-to-door engagement and community sessions, CHWs provide awareness, counseling, and family planning services, including rubber condoms and medications, directly within communities, ensuring access beyond clinical settings.
To strengthen frontline service delivery and standardize quality of care, SHINE Humanity, in partnership with Vital Pakistan Trust, has jointly trained CHWs in Karachi. The training focused on counseling techniques, demonstrations, focus group discussions, education on short- and long-term family planning methods, and data entry using ECR and the Vital App. Each SHINE clinic is now supported by three CHWs and one Community Health Supervisor (CHS), all assigned monthly case targets to promote accountability and measurable impact.
Reflecting on the initiative, Faheem Khan, CEO of SHINE Humanity Pakistan, stated, “Through our partnerships with the Population Welfare Department and Vital Pakistan Trust, we are strengthening community-based healthcare models that empower women and families. This initiative is a critical step toward breaking harmful stigmas and ensuring that reproductive health services reach those who need them most.”
Building on strengthened service delivery systems, SHINE Humanity has expanded its program to include long-term family planning methods through its partnership with Vital Pakistan Trust, formalised on July 1, 2025. All services are provided with written informed consent, with clients in Koohi Goth and Gharo have already accessed long-term options.
The initiative focuses on strengthening staff capacity, educating communities, and promoting informed decision-making while addressing stigma around women’s health and birth spacing.
Overall, the program underscores SHINE Humanity’s commitment to equitable, dignified, and accessible reproductive healthcare for rural and underserved communities.
