Zong Adds 750+ Sites to Strengthen Network Capacity for Digital Pakistan

Zong, Pakistan’s Leading Technology Services Enterprise, has integrated more than 750 new 5G and 4G TDD expansion sites across major cities and urban centres in recent months, strengthening network capacity in high-demand areas and improving service quality, consistency and reliability to support growing data consumption.

The expansion forms part of Zong’s 2026 commitment to deploy and upgrade more than 1,000 5G sites nationwide, and reflects a broader technological evolution: building the network intelligence, capacity and reliability needed to deliver a more dependable customer experience today, while preparing for the AI-driven digital services of tomorrow.

The real test of network performance is not simply how fast a connection can be under ideal conditions, but how reliably it performs when thousands of users are online simultaneously. By expanding capacity in high-traffic locations, Zong is reducing congestion and delivering a more dependable experience during busy hours.

“Customers don’t experience a network in megabits; they experience it in moments: a video call that doesn’t drop, a match that doesn’t buffer, a cloud application that simply works,” said Nabila Yazdani, Head of Strategy & Company Spokesperson, Zong. “Every site we add, and every upgrade across our 4G and 5G layers, is about making those moments dependable for millions of customers, and building the intelligent foundation Pakistan’s digital economy needs.”

The upgrade extends beyond 5G. Advanced 4G technologies remain essential to millions of customers, and Zong is strengthening its existing network through high-capacity Time Division Duplex (TDD) deployments and wider use of Carrier Aggregation, which combines multiple spectrum carriers to increase available bandwidth. Where network configurations and compatible devices support it, this extends from two-carrier aggregation (2CC) to three-carrier aggregation (3CC). The result is more efficient spectrum utilisation and greater capacity for high-definition streaming, cloud applications, social media and online gaming, ensuring network evolution delivers value across Zong’s entire customer base, not only early adopters of 5G devices.

On 5G, Massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (Massive MIMO) and three-dimensional beamforming are advancing network capacity and radio performance. Massive MIMO uses large antenna arrays to serve multiple users more efficiently, while 3D beamforming directs radio signals across horizontal and vertical dimensions to improve coverage and signal quality in dense urban environments, where high-rise buildings and concentrated traffic place greater pressure on network resources. For customers, this means faster downloads, responsive applications, seamless video streaming and lower latency, with dependable performance as demand fluctuates throughout the day.

The investments also underpin Zong’s evolution from a connectivity provider into a technology services enterprise. Backed by China Mobile, the world’s largest telecommunications enterprise, Zong’s long-term direction encompasses Communication Services, Computing Power Services and Intelligent Services. 5G and advanced 4G provide the connectivity layer; AI-enabled capabilities make network operations more intelligent and efficient; and digital platforms and computing infrastructure create opportunities for businesses, developers and emerging digital services.

For a Digital Pakistan, reliable digital infrastructure supports businesses, education, public services and new economic opportunities. Bridging the digital divide calls for more than coverage; it requires consistent service quality and accessible digital solutions.

Aligned with its “Aisa Hai Future” brand promise and its strategic priorities of Ultimate Customer Experience, Diversified Products & Services Portfolio and AI Enablement, Zong is positioning network evolution as the foundation for a wider technology transformation, one in which connectivity becomes an enabler of capability, innovation and inclusion.
